her happy place/gratitude

Dear Maya - This is where you spent your day. Frying eggs for mama while making the funniest "shhshshhh" sound of an egg frying, to heating up your snack in the microwave and saying "keek keek keek" when it was done. To putting all your vegetables in a big bowl and tossing it (where did you learn this?!). You couldn't have been happier today. Your Grandpa and Bubby bought you this set, your papa spent 3 hours last night putting it together and I got to watch you enjoy it today with all your heart. When you were first born, I used to worry that because you were born into such privilege you might grow up taking so many things for granted. It didn't take me too long to notice that this beautiful life you're living and all the love that's coming your way is not lost on you. You are humble, and sweet and generous and grateful. All we have to do is follow your lead and mirror your beautiful spirit. Getting to be the *incredibly* lucky one that spends the most amount of time with you, has been so healing for me. The life your Bubby and I had in India was very different from the one we're living here. I feel like I'm getting a second chance at having a childhood. Relativity is a beautiful thing. Had I not experienced the pain I did as a child, I don't know that I would be so grateful. I needed those life experiences in order to evolve into the person I am today. You however, are already born with the traits I have worked so hard to cultivate in myself. Our home planet needs more people like you and I know that you are going to do amazing things with your life in service to humanity and mother earth.
Today was an emotional day for me. The good kind of emotional; the healing kind. Sometimes I wish I could go back in time and tell 9 year old me that everything, EVERYTHING, has turned out great.
