back-to-school - SK

I'm finally getting to sit down and reflect on this incredible week (with a glass of wine of course).
Our Maya will be going to forest school one day a week and attending SK 4 days a week. So this is the first year she'll be gone for 5 days and it has been an incredibly emotional week for Frankie and I. I've had this little lady close to me for five and a half years so it feels like a piece of me is missing when she's at school. Her first day at forest school was a hot and humid day. I was fully expecting her to have a meltdown of epic proportions at pick up from spending 6 hours outside but nope! I saw her walking out of the forest, hat on backwards, face covered in dirt, looking like such a little bad-ass. She is also the youngest child in her class so it was amazing to see her keep up with the older kids.

First day at SK was just perfect. No surprises that she waved goodbye and had herself a very happy day.Yay for gentle transitions.
We were all positively giddy at pick-up on Friday. Maya announced she made a friend and Izo ran straight into her "Yaya's" arms. It's amazing to see how much she has learned in just 2 short days. And Izo loved all the undivided attention she was getting while Maya was at school. All-in-all week 1 has been fantastic. Frankie and I both took turns crying but seeing both girls happy with this new transition is helping us embrace our new reality.

Sometimes I wish life had a pause button.
