Living in OM 2009

The year 2009. All things spectacular.

This is Frankie, the bull. Named after my husband, Frankie..

January 16th, 2009 our family welcomed Lauren Anne Post. Frankie's niece and the apple of our eye! Court and Christiane become mommy and daddy forever!

View from our First Apartment.

*le sigh* we just moved to our first home and I hopelessly miss our "first apartment". It was perfect, tiny, cramped and full of love. I will always look back at this apartment with fond memories.

Frankie carried me in here as a bride, we enjoyed numerous perfect sun sets and hosted coutless brunches, dinners and birthday parties.

I love my plants..I remember watching my mom when I was a kid. She would talk to our plants as she watered them and would sing to them and say to me, "Look how happy my plants are." As a child I thought she was nuts. Today, as a woman I am happily nuts just as my mom is.

Spring..

~ If we had no winter, the spring would not be so pleasant: if we did not sometimes taste of adversity, prosperity would not be so welcome. ~

Frank Sr watches over his herd and Frank Jr welcomes Spring!

Easter- I love this picture. We all just woke up and look so out of it and happy!

The egg hunt was mad and so much fun.

With Mama and Dad..

Celebrating Cailin

We all gathered to Unite for the Fight Against Childhood Cancer. And oh what a gathering it was...

Mike, Bonnie, Taryn; with a whole slew of happy organizers, were able to bring us all together and help us realize that each and every single one of us is a change maker!

Celebrating love..

It's not officially summar until a big family wedding. Ryan and Jacquie were married May 24th, 2009 and I can honestly say Jacquie is the most beautiful bride I have ever laid eyes on!

Look at uncle Andy so proud and look at Jacquie in such a hurry to get to Ryan.. aww

Familia

I LOVE pictures of people laughing!

This summer was very special because we got to spend a lot of time with family..

First a cottage weekend with Court, Christiane and Lauren.

Lauren is "Ananda" - the Sanskrit word for bliss.

I spent most of that weekend observing her bliss and photographing her and yes time was made for many many hugs, laughs and kisses. I promised myself that if I ever got lost in my thoughts, I would think of her and all the joy that she is and create that universe within me.

There is much to be learnt from children. They have an imagination that knows no limits, they do not have the ability to hold grudges, they are spontaneous, creative, witty and brilliant. Children do not understand the concept of duality, fear or hate; until we teach them.. this world could use more child like beings.

This is one of my faourite pictures from this summer. Frankie had just finished meditating and his father joined him to watch the sun set..

Oh but there's a story! The cottage was atop a thousand stairs. This is true.. A thousand stairs. So when I realised, Frank Sr was down there watching the sun set with his son, I had to grab my camera to capture it. I also had to respect the beautiful silent moment the two were sharing so one quick picture and I ran back up a thousand stairs. I was so out of breath, sick and dizzy hahaha..TOTALLY worth it!

I'm so glad we got to spend some time with the Post's this summer and I can not wait to see them again!

And then a herd of Buwalda's gathered. This was my first time meeting the Buwalda's. 11 siblings, with spouses, and children and their spouses and grandchildren..

There they were with their big Buwalda noses, bright red cheeks and warm green eyes; smiling and happy to welcome me, Shabana Buwalda~

The tug of love

It was a perfect reunion, with many stories, delicious food and a heart full of gratitude for family..

Weekend in Toronto - July 09

My husband likes striking a pose as much as I enjoy photography. We are so totally a match made in heaven.

Fankie and Shabana do Nova Scotia with Jeremy, Kiera and the belly!

At last, at last..

This was one truly kick ass summer vacation. Kiera's family lives in Nova Scotia and we spent a week at her family's camp site.

This camp site had no electricity, no running water, an outhouse and a shower equipped with, a small shower bag, a curtain, 3 wooden walls and the sky above. Frankie and I slept in our tent the entire time. We had two nights of thunder, lightening and rain.

We spent our evenings huddled around a camp fire for hours, watching the flames, drinking beers, sharing laughs, staring at the stars and enjoying some fireworks.

NYC - 1 week in Brooklyn, NY with my parents (they live there) and without Frankie.
We laughed, we ate, and then we ate somemore. AND I did camera gear shopping, bought fabric and costumes for maternity and newborn shoots and spent a week learning a new digital blackroom software. It was fabulous!

Oliver Austin Lennox-Post arrives November 4th, 2009. Jeremy and Kiera become mommy and daddy for ever!

Welcome to the freak show little guy!!

Our new home faces east and the sun rise creates beautiful shadows on our walls. Who needs tv when you can watch a spectacular dance performed by light and darkness?

Christmas 2009 - The family gathers

Since Lauren lives in Bermuda and we weren't going to be there to celebrate her 1st birthday on January 16th; we decided to have a little party here. Thanks to my friend Leisl Adams for making this very special birthday cake!

Lauren's hair is unlike anything I've seen on the head of an almost 1 year old. I mean, look at that!!

The best thing about this Christmas is that we had Lauren and Olly (the most adorable little kids in the entire universe, no really) to celebrate with.

Ha! Look that teeny tiny smirk!

This fell off my shoe.. soooooo pretty!

Best present of the night to my father-in-law Frank from Jer and Kiera. Blue bulls balls for his truck. HAHAHA!

Taking a family photo can be a little challenging.

Alright, that's better!

It is a rare occasion when all 4 brothers and their wives can get together. As you can see, we are missing one very beautiful set - Nick and Dawn. We missed you guys so much! I am so thankful for the time we all got together.

As the year 2009 comes to an end, I am MOST thankful for Oliver and Lauren; two kids who've inspired and changed me in so many ways.

I love you two little monkeys and I love being Aunty Shaboo!

2009 was the year of inner and outer transformation. Life gave me EXACTLY what I needed. What I needed was absolutely not what I wanted (or so I foolishly thought when it all happened). And because of this, I evolved, let go, learned to love and woke up to life.
